Auto save in shared excel file

Postby kshar » Tue Mar 13, 2012 1:40 am

Hi,

I and couple of my team we usually work on shared file everyday, and i am not able to track the update done by other team member, so i was thinking if ther could be a way like promting every user to save the file every five minute or three will be easy to track the update as in excel until and unless the file is saved we cant see the changes. I need you suggestion on it.

thanks,
Kshar

Hello kshar,
According to this link
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/excel-help/administration-of-shared-workbooks-HA001013057.aspx
each user of a shared workbook can set his own Autosave options. The article applies to Exel 2002 but should still be valid. Have you tried getting your users to set their individual autosave options?
Tools/Options - Save tab.

Have a great day! :D

I do this for "honour and country" - much less of the latter, actually.
If I helped you, award points, plenty of them.
If I bored you, deduct points for being too long-winded. (I know, :lol)

I know it's been a while, but hopefully this will help you or someone else. It sounds like Share Workbook options will help when you first share the workbook. Within "Update Changes", select Automatically every X minutes, and also select "Save my changes and see others' changes."
