Deleting 1 character out of several excel file names

I cannot figure out if there is a way to delete 1 character from several file names within an excel folder. Each file has the same naming convention and when the file is created, it is systematically created with an & in it. The & blocks it from being able to be loaded into a network for viewers. Is there a way in excel to delete that one character out of each of those file names within a folder without having to do it manually, individually?

You could do this with a macro. Are you talking about changing the file name after it has been created and saved or before it is saved? Ideally, it would be best to have the program that names the files just not include the ampersand. Is that possible?

Excel files or not, this isn't an Excel question. The solution lies in renaming files. Excel can't do that. VBA can, and the code might be contained in an Excel workbook. I suggest to give your question another name. It doesn't matter if you want to delete a character or add two or replace some. What you need in all of these cases is code to rename files.
