Deleted data

Postby pdunipace1 » Tue Dec 20, 2011 10:33 am

I accidentally deleted 3 hours of data that I had been working on. Is there a way to retrieve that data? Would it be stored somewhere? Thanks

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Have you already closed the document from which you deleted the data? If not, try hitting Ctrl + Z to undo the changes.

Also, go to the location of the file on your computer. Go to Tools > Folder Options > View tab > select "Show hidden files and folders" and hit OK. Then look and see if a file with a similar name but with "~$" in front of it appears. If so, double-click that to open it and see if the data you deleted is there.

If that doesn't work, go to the Office Button > Excel Options > Save tab and look next to where it says "AutoRecover file location." Navigate to that location on your computer and see if there is a saved version of the file there.
