how to find average w/Multi Criteria in same column

Postby mrinck » Wed Mar 02, 2016 10:33 am

I need a formula set up that will search column C for 2 different variables and use the data in column J to find an average for each time the variables appear in C. I am pulling this data from one sheet and putting the average of the 2 variables onto a report sheet.

Thanks

The way I see it, that would require an AVERAGEIF with an OR criteria and I don't know if that can be done. You might, depending on what your variables are, set up an expression of some sort.

As usual, there are a few ways to skin an Excel cat. What you could do is:

* apply table formatting to your data (Home: Format as Table)
* add a totals row (Design: Table Style Options)
* in the totals row for J, use the drop down to select average
* use the filters provide in the header for C

Hope this helps.
