I am paid for greater 45 minutes travel time to get to a job. I can calculate the time taken to get to the job, but when I try to deduct the 45 minutes I get some very strange answers.
Can anyone suggest a formula that will help?

Hi and welcome
if your travel time is something like 04:30 in A1, in A2 enter =A1-0.75/24 to subtract 45 min
If you have travel times shorter than 45 min you could use =MAX(0,A1-0.75/24)
