Postby Shafiullah » Mon Mar 24, 2014 5:19 am

Dear Friends

I have a laptop which has no numeric keypad therefore, I can't type "Degree Sign" in Excel. I have typed the code for it but it isn't working. I request you to help me in this regard.

Alt 0176 (untested on a laptop) or use the insert > symbol.

On my laptop I found a symbol(Alt186) like the degree sign but with an underscore. I don't know what it is good for. Therefore I might feel inclined to use it as a degree sign.
Fact is, however, that laptops do have a number pad which can be used to enter Alt-characters. The following link has very clear instructions for finding it.
Code: Select all
http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/how-to-use-the-numeric-keypad-on-your-laptop.navId-323008.html
Unfortunately, I am still trying to make this work on my Samsung laptop. Should you be successful with this method before I am please post your experience here.
Elsewhere, I also saw an instruction to press Fn+Alt+[code]. That didn't work for me either.

Have a great day! :D

I do this for "honour and country" - much less of the latter, actually.
If I helped you, award points, plenty of them.
If I bored you, deduct points for being too long-winded. (I know, :lol)
